James Lee Witt Associates Delivers Draft Report
Washington, DC, January 10, 2003 - This morning, James Lee Witt Associates (JLWA) delivered the draft of the Review of Emergency Preparedness at Indian Point and Millstone to the State of New York. Upon delivering the draft report, JLWA launches a public comment period intended to encourage interested parties to respond to the findings in the draft report.
JLWA recently completed a draft comprehensive and independent review of emergency preparedness for the area around the Indian Point Energy Center and for that portion of New York in proximity to the Millstone plant in Connecticut. The draft report is posted on the company's website and may be accessed by visiting www.wittassociates.com.
"This is a very important public safety issue and we hope that our findings will help increase the safety of the citizens of New York," said James Lee Witt. "Public safety has always been a priority of the State of New York and we believe that this report will help them to continue setting an example of excellence for other states."
In addition, JLWA sought and was granted an extension from the State to incorporate a public comment period into the report; because the subject is important to the citizens and stakeholders in the area and we are interested in receiving their comments. The public comment period begins Friday, January 10, 2003 and ends at 6 p.m. EST Friday, February 7, 2003. The final report will be issued on February 28, 2003, after comments have been reviewed, summarized and addressed in the report.
JLWA and Innovative Emergency Management, Inc. (IEM) worked together to successfully complete the draft review.
