Pennsylvania Colleges, Universities Participate in Ready Campus Training
Colleges and universities across Pennsylvania attended Ready Campus training sessions on April 1st in Harrisburg and on April 8th in Philadelphia.
Ready Campus is an initiative to connect campuses with local community emergency responders before disaster strikes. Campuses and local officials can support each other through the use of campus facilities, training volunteers and providing students with service learning opportunities to prepare them to be crisis-ready civic leaders of the future.
Among the presenters, Barry Scanlon and Jenny Holt of James Lee Witt Associates spoke with community and campus representatives on building and maintaining mutually-beneficial partnerships.
Previous sessions were held in last Fall in Dallas, PA and Pittsburgh.
Co-developers of the project include College Misericordia, the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, Pennsylvania Campus Compact, the Pennsylvania Office of Homeland Security, and the Department of Homeland Security.
