Witt and Loy Release Survey and Offer Solutions for Improvements

What: Press Conference with former Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Director James Lee Witt and Admiral James M. Loy, former Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, co-chairs of ProtectingAmerica.org, will be discussing the results of a national survey that shows how unprepared America is for a catastrophe, and steps that need to be taken to improve our readiness. Witt and Loy will be joined by Members of Congress who will be discussing their solution to improve the way America protects itself from natural catastrophe, and by Mark Mellman of the Mellman Group, who conducted the survey along with Public Opinion Strategies. Witt is currently the CEO and Chairman of James Lee Witt Associates, LLC a public safety and emergency management consulting firm based in Washington, D.C. Admiral Loy is senior counselor with The Cohen Group, a global strategic consulting firm.

 

ProtectingAmerica.org is a coalition that has been organized to support efforts to better prepare and protect Americans for the consequences of natural disasters through a comprehensive, public-private solution that will increase public awareness through improved education; allow for better coordination with state, federal and local mitigation and recovery efforts; strengthen emergency response and improve financial mechanisms to rebuild after a major catastrophe.
