(OTCBB: GLOI), a leading provider of domestic and international risk management services, today announced that Mark Ghilarducci, Vice President of the company's James Lee Witt Associates (JLWA) unit, has been invited by the RAND Corporation to participate in an expert panel designed to lay the groundwork for improvements in the nation's public health emergency response capacity.
Ghilarducci and a field of other nationally-recognized experts in public health, emergency management, medicine, and EMS, will participate in the "RAND Expert Panel to Define Public Health Emergency Preparedness" during a two-day meeting in March. This panel, tasked by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), is to develop clear and coherent definition of public health emergency preparedness. The agenda will focus on 1) developing a concise statement defining preparedness, 2) identifying a simple conceptual model and 3) developing a set of core preparedness elements that can span agencies and programs to provide the foundation for clear and feasible performance standards.
The RAND Corporation is a nonprofit institution that helps improve policy and decision making through research and analysis. During the past three years the corporation has conducted a series of studies designed to support the development of the nation's public health mercy response capacity.
Mr. Ghilarducci is the Vice President and Director of the Western States Regional Office of James Lee Witt Associates. Ghilarducci has been a leader in emergency preparedness for over 25 years and participated on the California Public Health Infrastructure Investment Project in 2004 headed by RAND. Ghilarducci has provided technical expertise and consultation services to government and the private sector on All-Hazard Crisis and Consequence Management, Emergency Services, Homeland Security and Government Affairs including the Oklahoma City Bombing, Illinois Cook County Administration Building Fire Report, California Department of Health Services and the California State University System (CSU). Most recently, Ghilarducci has spearheaded JLWA public health practice with assisting government agencies and corporations prepare for Influenza Pandemic and related public health emergencies. He has more than 25 years of diversified service in the Emergency Management, Fire, EMS and Rescue disciplines.
