On October 12, 2006, a severe storm caused widespread damages and losses throughout Erie County, NY. James Lee Witt Associates (JLWA) was contracted by the County to provide disaster management and public assistance services. Specifically, JLWA provided a well-trained and supervised staff who worked alongside the county and state emergency management agencies and representatives and provided sub-grantees with valuable disaster program knowledge and support assistance and information.
JLWA was on-hand to perform a review of several functional areas, including the following:
• FEMA Public Assistance Program education
• Eligibility guidance
• Debris reimbursement advice and counsel
• Analysis of the debris monitoring system
• Analysis of project worksheets
The final leg of the project included the production of an after-action report, which outlined key issues as well as recommendations.
