Independent Review of Pubic Safety
January 2007 – Present
James Lee Witt Associates (JLWA) has been retained by the City of Weston, Florida to analyze the impact of the proposed Davie Commons commercial development on emergency preparedness and public safety in several communities in western Broward County, Florida.
The proposed two million square foot development includes high-end shops, restaurants, office space and a 300-room hotel. As proposed, public access to the development would be via Interstate 75. Local, county, state and federal agency approval will be required for approval of the proposed development and interstate access road change.
The Weston City Manager has engaged JLWA to provide expert analysis and testimony regarding the public safety aspects of the existing plans for the Davie Commons. JLWA experts are reviewing and analyzing plans in relation to traffic, public safety and other emergency plans, including for evacuations, and the potential impact on emergency services in the region.
James Lee Witt Associates is working with its sister firm on the project, New York-based SafirRosetti. SafirRosetti is currently working with a similar project in New Jersey and brings a complementary level of understanding of evacuation and security issues to JLWA's emergency management and response experience.
