University of Central Arkansas:
Government Representation
January 2005 – Present
James Lee Witt Associates (JLWA) works with a variety of organizations to represent their interests with key decision-makers, legislators and other stakeholders on the local, state, and federal levels. Since January 2005, JLWA has coordinated targeted government outreach for the University of Central Arkansas (UCA). JLWA has advised UCA on legislation that is of interest to the institution and its students and has helped facilitate relationships between UCA and legislators and government officials.
JLWA's involvement in the 86th Arkansas General Assembly has helped support or reject several pieces of legislation including SB 26, an act concerning financial aid distribution; HB 1315, an act to require review of general services and technology contracts by the Arkansas Legislative Council; HB 1685, an act to provide an appropriation for the Mass Communication program at UCA; and HB 1686, and act to provide general improvement funds for facility, technology and campus costs. JLWA also lobbied the 86th General Assembly on behalf of UCA, which resulted in the largest increase in UCA's history, over $8.9 million in State appropriations.
